| The Ring of Brodgar | | Author: Darren White | | System: D&D Forgotten Realms | | Category: Fantasy | | Type: Scenario | | The Ring of Brodgar is set in the Forgotten Realms Campaign, taking the PCs from a small halfling village, across the cold lands of Damara and into the Galena Mountains to a forgotten keep. The keep belonged to a once powerful group of dwarves that adventured across the Cold Lands several centuries ago. This adventure is a continuation of the Tomb of Maeshowe adventure, however it can be inserted into any scenario in which the PCs discover a map. The module was designed to be used by 4-6 characters that are of 2nd-4th levels. | | Views: (16724) | | Comments: (38) Rating: 8.6 | | 2005-02-14 11:30:32 |

I really enjoyed the maps. What program did you use for them? Pls contact me directly (my e-address is good) |

posted by Daenor on 2005-02-28 00:31:04 | | Nothing special really.A simple hack-and-slash adventure with no plot at all.On my opinion battles in adventures should be few and challenging with less but stronger opponents.Battles with pathetic opponents despite their big numbers from my experience tend to be very easily handled by the players and become boring too after some time. It's not a bad thing have the players knocked down once in a while. Some of the items found are too much for characters of that level. |
posted by methedude on 2005-02-28 05:04:38 | | I agree, this adventure is really straightforward. No plottwists or anything. The magic items are too strong for their level and the encounters are a bit dull imo. Im a fan of your triology, but this adventure doesnt come to your standards. 5/10 |
posted by Virtual Phil on 2005-02-28 06:17:40 | | I enjoyed this adventure as I am sure that my PCs will this Thursday. It is a well scripted hack and slash dungeon adventure, which is perfect for characters starting off. Keep in mind that Tomb of Maeshowe is a starter adventure and this is its follow-up...great timing for a hack and slash. |
posted by rpg dude on 2005-03-12 04:49:22 | | decent stock adventure (keyword: stock). I am not into the average everyday run of the mill (and any other cliche' that pertains) type adventures as i can run those right off the top of my head. I understand that this is part of a bigger mini-campaign so I read all 3 of them back to back and there are slight problems with the transitions between each segment that a DM must work out. I would have given a higher rate for it, but in the future... if you are going to do a mini-campaign then I suggest waiting to release the first 2 until the 3rd one is done so that they can all be released as 1 super-module and maybe any transitional problems would be noticed by you before offering it (them) as a completed package. |

posted by The Imperial Wizard on 2005-03-12 08:06:08 | | This is a solid dungeon crawl for starters and those new to the game. I normally would have given this adventure an 8, but the rpg dude wrongfully writes that this is number 3 of a mini-campaign (and gives him two 4 star ratings). Unless I missed something, but Ring of Brodgar is number 2...following the Tomb of Maeshowe. |
posted by rpg dude on 2005-03-14 18:06:23 | | sorry, i meant to say 2 and as far as giving it a double rate, well you need to ask the person who runs this site on why HIS site posted my rating twice, The problem is on the website end, not mine. (star rate reflects the current rate so as to not affect the overall rate) |
posted by Crap on 2005-03-26 09:03:13 | | All your names are stolen from geographical places in the Orkney Islands and your "campaign" is nothing but dissapointing. Why would this be interesting to play? |
posted by Samurai on 2005-03-26 11:26:56 | | I liked this very much. The adventure is not too complecated, so it is good for low level PCs and new players, but plenty of backstory is included. The adventure is specific enough to be able to be run alone, but leaves enough things unsaid to allow a DM to change it easily. One thing that needs work is motovation. Why are the grimlocks there? Why are the orcs there? Etc. |
posted by SML on 2005-04-20 13:26:29 | | Ring of Brodgar is an excellent dungeon adventure to "break the cherry" of beginning adventurers. Apparently it is not for everyone but it works for my group. Thanks! |

posted by beltsupe on 2005-10-09 04:06:46 | | This worked out very well for my group. They prefer this type of play, ie. hack'n slash. They're terrible at deep story games and tend to trigger even the simplest of traps. Of course, they are only 14-year-olds and new to the RPG world. Very long play-time, though. It took a few game sessions to complete. |
