| Aerendale | | Author: Darren Lawrence | | System: d20 Dungeons and Dragons | | Category: Fantasy | | Type: Scenario | | PCs have the opportunity to battle goblinoids disrupting a trade route, explore an old stronghold and small dungeon infested with kobolds and undead, and search for a missing ranger. The adventure provides a small village with many NPCs for characters to interact with along with several character hooks and tips for integrating the adventure into a larger campaign. | | Views: (25823) | | Comments: (26) Rating: 7.9 | | 2004-06-08 01:06:38 |

posted by A.L. Maturin on 2004-06-10 07:25:31 | | I agree with Walking Dead Dwarf, it's a good adventure. It's more than that however. It's also a great campaign starting point (hence the higher rating). I plan on using it for just that. My only problem with it, is the presentation of the adventure as a job to the PCs, though I understand this is a necessary evil sometimes. |
posted by Sir BraveHeart Bob on 2004-06-11 18:14:03 | | I also agree that this is a good adventure and the maps are about as good as anything I have seen on rpgarchive.com. I hope you make more and share them all...... |

posted by Gamwik Woolbeard on 2004-07-03 12:06:36 | This is the best module I've seen on the internet. I would pay $9.95 for this at a bookstore in a heartbeat. An excellent adventure, perfect perfect perfect!
PLEASE make more! You're very talented. |

posted by rpg player on 2004-07-20 15:46:10 | | Finally an adventure that is ready to run right out of the "box", but with enough room to work with to add my own stuff to drop it right into my world - GOOD JOB!! (and I agree that 15 stars is what this submission deserves) |
posted by Eric Hestand on 2004-08-04 12:18:58 | | Excellent adventure, just finished running it last night. This was a 4-game adventure with lots of little extras and awesome documentation. My PC's took over the stronghold and I'll be basing my campaign off of that. My only complaint was that there was WAAAAAY too much gold available. For a level 2-3'ish adventure, we're talking a potential of tens of thousands of gp available. I adjusted that massively downward, I'm somewhat of a stingy DM. :) |

And knock it off Xena, it's uncool to use these comment sections to sound off your petty flame wars. Do it through e-mail if you have to do it at all so we're not exposed. |
posted by Whisper the Gray Monk on 2004-08-31 13:02:41 | This is one of the best free adventures I've seen. I spent about 2 hours going through it and I enjoyed every bit. My party is currently a bit higher level but I think with a few mods this will be a great challenge. I especially liked the use of "unhallow" or desecrate on the undead altars below the keep. This'll keep the party off balance. The classed kobolds are a nice touch. Finally, I like how the kobolds and goblins were portrayed (Lawful evil and willing to negotiate, as opposed to Chaotic evil and ready to attack)
Excellent work. |
posted by Tuomas Kinnunen on 2004-11-25 05:27:34 | This is copy from old classic AD&D adventure
L1 Secret of Bone Hill. Maps are almost
same just some names changed like Bone hill to stone hill!
Dont copy other peoples work and then claim that they are yours... |
posted by Darren Lawrence on 2004-11-29 12:41:28 | Normally I think it best for authors to not post, but I thought some people might appreciate some additional information enough to make it worthwhile. The original idea was to just do a straight conversion of the module L1 "The Secret of Bone Hill" for my gaming group. Turning my loose notes into a form that could be shared on a fan website hadn't really occurred to me at the time. But that conversion didn't work out. At all. So I salvaged parts of the maps because I really liked the basic layout of the place and then repopulated them and introduced a completely different scenario. "Stone Hill" was meant more as a wink and nod to Bone Hill rather than as a finger. Gentle readers may also be curious to know that the populace of the town was influenced heavily by a certain village named Homlet, though this is quite a subtle thing. Gentle readers are probably less curious to know that my own very first D&D session involved goblins and worgs causing trouble in the wilderness near a small town. So yes, I have been shamelessly inspired by various sources. "The Secret of Bone Hill" module is available free (or at least it was when I wrote this...) from the Wizards of the Coast website download section if anyone wants to check it out. Personally I'd give my effort an eight. But next time I'll do my own maps.

posted by someone who is ashamed of a prev. high rate on thi on 2005-01-12 15:55:06 | | hey asshole, if you plan on ripping anything off in the future, please say so so I won't waste my time by giving high stars to someone who doesn't deserve it.... Read the guidelines for writting d20 products and you will notice that just because it is d20 doesn't give you or anybody else the right to rip off other peoples' hard work! |
posted by Darhallow on 2005-03-21 18:18:53 | | Besides that this adventure is a bit like many other adventures (goblins sack the roadside) this is a really, really, really good adventure. I plan to used this as the basis to my next campagn. Excellent Job. |
posted by SML on 2005-04-20 13:34:53 | | Very good adventure and close to being straight out of the box. It could easily pass as a store bought module (I know I would have bought it). |
posted by Roel on 2005-10-03 03:06:15 | | Nice adventure. Very complete too. I'm using this adventure for my first DM-ing experience and find it fairly easy to use. Little too much goblin hunting for my taste but my players like it, so Im satisfied too :) |

posted by Maliki on 2006-06-01 12:38:07 | | I converted this to Castles & Crusades, and plan to kick off a campaign with it in the future. It does have a Bone Hill feal to it, but I think it is and original enough to be a compiment to rather than a rip off of Bone Hill. |
posted by Sarrius Hellsom on 2007-07-10 02:59:22 | | Reminds me of the old days when i could spend weeks getting a single adventure ready, with so much depth that the players were shocked by the fact that I'd alllow them to carry a ballista around with them , if they could devise a means to do it. |
