Occult Odds & Ends
Author: Ty States
System: Call of Cthulhu
Category: Horror
Type: Hook
These are stories, terms, or names that could blend into story hooks. Obviously it's up to the GM to take something here and turn it into an adventure. Truth and accuracy not guaranteed. :-)

Useful and thought-provoking. Great for the GM who is stuck for an idea, especially for quick one-off adventures.

These are great little hooks. One-offs a plenty! Some require more work than others, but as a whole they are very useful to any long running horror GM, or something that they can develop on their own.

Good plot spinners. Useful for other games systems too. What I'd REALLY like to see, however, is a similar thing with investigative details, as I find the 'Supernatural' bits of scenarios quite easy to write, but the 'nitty-gritty investigative' bits quite hard.

I'd like to add the "Tunguska Event" to the list.

Early 1900's over Russia a "celestial body" was spotted, most thought it was a meteor. Soared into the atmosphere at an angle nearly impossible for a meteor to attain then exploded IN THE SKY with a force that had never been recorded from a meteor. The geomagnetic storms and effects did NOT match any previously observed object that entered the earth's atmosphere. The closest match for the geomagnetic fingerprint... was a nuclear explosion. Early weapon test? Some group (human or not) testing an unknown craft that malfunctioned? Did it even originate on Earth?
