But this hook rocks! its orginal (not many dms gonna think of that!), can be used in many diffrent ways easiley (I like the first option a diffacult choice but not horribly rigid),it has a great impact, can make a good adventure, adds presure,c an b sued with many systems (this would work in DnD) and it deals with absent players. The only thing I don't liek is that it can kill off a character thorugh no fault of the player, simply becuase the part is too slow |

posted by Ben on 2004-03-06 13:53:59 | Hook #1: Weak. Plays into the style for Keepers who enjoy railroading the players into situations, however I have very very clever players in my group and they would rather die than be railroaded so blatantly... then they'd be pissed at me for such a poor construct of an adventure.
Hook #2: Um, ghouls don't eat live flesh according to Lovecraft. They only eat long dead flesh. They would most likely kill the PC immediately and toss him somewhere to "ripen". Still, not too much fun for the dead PC.
Hook #3: I must also disagree with the other comments that mentioned originality. If you have ever read more than 3 issues of "Weird Tales" (the publication lovecraft orignially submitted to) you would have read this scenario many many times over. Just not a fan of this set of hooks. |
