Adventure Background
This is the first mission of a campagin in which the players of a small strike team are requested, by the company, to protect a colony 'shake and bake' facility (terraforming colony complex similar to the one on LV-426, only alot smaller). In this mission the players are briefed on there mission and hit the freezers, in a Recon Ship, for the long journey to LV-492. While on-board the Recon vessel the commanding office, along with the pilot, navigator, and engineer are awoken by the ships proximity alarm. A small vessel, class 9 transport (slightly larger than a drop ship) is approaching the Recon vessel. All attempted communications with the ship fail to receive any response. A couple of the other strike team members are awoken (these are the other players) and are ordered to search the transport. Their search reveals a sole survivor. Once passed through quarintine the players discover that the survivor, who calls himself Roland, was once part of group of mercinaries working for the company and that their ship was damaged by a freak asteroid storm while they were in the freezers. All of the crew were killed and Roland luckily managed to escape in the only ship in the loading bay, a small transport. Unbeknownst to the players Roland is an infiltrator android working for the company. Roland became a member of a group of renegades, who working for a rival organisation. The android was instructed to assassinate all members of this group. Roland succeeded and was about to report to the company when the ship was hit by an asteroid and the he had to escape. Roland is a type L2 android and renowned for their perception unit problems. Unluckily for the players Roland preceives that some of the marines are the renegades he was instructed to kill. He attempts to disable the ship and then proceeds to kill the marines he believes to be the renegades.
Introduction and Briefing
Commanding Officer Intro
"Command is everything your thought it would be. Exciting and Safe, unlike being a Grunt. You have been on many missions and lead numerous strike teams on relatively routine patrol missions, all without any hitches. You are now on your way back to Earth's Gateway station after a well deserved vacation on Arcturus in the Borodino sector. Your vacation on Arcturus was a memorable one. So much so that you've already decided the destination of your next vacation. The Arcturians are a very, pleasing, race. Most of your time was spent in their warm pools with them, all the while eating their local delecacies and drinking the sweet smelling waters from their vast underground streams.
You carefully check over your equipment and begin to make your way to the air lock, just as you hear the transport dock with gateway station. You've always had a knack for timing. As you make your way past the air lock and through the umbilical you look out over the Earth below. Once a beautiful place, now a crime ridden world. A shit hole most people would call it. Exiting the umbilical you enter Gateway station, and quickly make your way to your quarters."
Grunt/Aux Intro
"Good morning Marines, what you waiting for breakfast in bed". Your are all awoken from your freezers by your sargents voice. You slowly awake and look around. You see 6 other open freezers. Everyone is slowly getting up. "Welcome home boys", continues the sargent, "looks like I've got some bad news for you all. Youve all been reassigned and have new ops as soon as you get back to gateway. Nothing like being always on the move. So get yourselves packed up and move your asses down to gateways briefing room. Now move it people they aint paying us by the hour."
You all manage to take quick showers but get no time to get some breakfast. You slowly make your way to gateways briefing room. Luckily not to far from the docking bay. Entering the briefing room you are confronted by a tall burly man. He wears the strips of a sargent. "Fall in marines." You all quickly fall into formation. "Officer on deck". You snap to attention just as a ... (description of commanding officer) enters the room.

Roland
Roland (Android) is a Type 41E Infiltrator Android. Very few people within the company know of these androids and anyone discovering this information usually disappears. The android, unlike other types, is capable of harming and killing humans. Their main purpose is to infiltrate and eliminate any persons that may pose a problem to the company. Similar to other androids in strength and intelligence the 41Es have been programmed to be more aggressive and adaptive to its environments. As infiltration is one of its primary purposes the 41Es have a layer of skin and red blood over its normal encasing (and the usual white fluid underneath). They appear human, even under medical examination (except under surgery). Only an expert surgeon can discover the difference under a medical examination. The 41Es suffer from one major glitch. They suffer from memory loss and make bizzare assumptions in regards to their mission. This usually occurs only on long missions.

Encounter 1
Dreams. You walk down a dark corridor. A soft humming noise can be heard but you have no idea where its coming from. You feel disoriented and worried but don't understand why. You cautiously walk down the corridor feeling the walls as you move. The walls are cold and lightly covered with dust which cling to your fingertips. As you walk down the corridor the sound becomes louder and louder. You recognise the sound but can't recall what it means. You continue down the corridor and hear a voice.
Your eyes flicker open and you hear an alarm then a voice. "Proximity Alert, Warning Proximity Alert!". You get up fighting the dizziness and disorientation that comes when awaking from the freezers. You force yourself to sit and look around the cold room. The other crew members and are all still in the freezers. Looks like the ships computer has only woken you up. "Proximity Alert, Warning Proximity Alert!".
After consulting the ships computers the commanding officer discovers a small transport ship on a intercept course with the Shakespear. The Pilot and Co-pilot should be awoken from the freezers together with a couple of marines and a medical officer to prepare for docking. All communications with the ship is returned with static. The ship docks with little difficulty.
After the ship docks the marines can enter the transport. Within the transport the marines find Roland in one of the freezers. They should take him straight to quarintine and perform standard medical checks.
Encounter 2
After finding nothing out of the ordinary with Roland and checking that his story (via the computers) the players should go back into the freezers.
While the others are not with Roland in quarintine, Roland escapes and plants a bomb (found in the armory) and sets it to explode in 24 hours in order to disable the ships drives.
24 hours later the commanding officer is awoken by another alarm. This time a fire alarm. The commanding officer should quickly awaken some other marines and crew members (pilot, co-pilot, and engineers) and attend to the fire in the docking bay, armory, and storage room.
The computer determines that the fire was caused by a fault in the space cylinder linkage conduit. Any engineer (or someone with Repair skill) can determine that it is possible for a fire to start but not of this magnitude. The alarm should have alerted the commanding officer much sooner then it did. It will take 24 hours to repair the damages. All cameras have also been disabled due to the fire and will take 12 hours to fix.
Encounter 3
While repairs are underway, Roland will awaken from the freezers and kill the Engineer. The android will then return to the freezers.
Encounter 4
Several hours later Roland will again awaken from the freezers and from any computer terminal disable life support. The computer will notify the crew of life support being disabled. Life support is controlled from the freezers. When the players get to the freezers, Roland will be back in his pod.
Final Conflict
Roland will attempt to get to the control room. He will do this by faking someone elses voice and call the commanding officer out of the control room. Roland will then get into the control room kill the pilot and wait for the commanding officer to return. Try to keep the marines out of the freezer room (as they are just about to enter the freezer room, have the pilot scream. The marines should rush to the control room.) They find the pilot still at the controls. The marines won't know he's dead until they get to him at which point Roland will attack. |
